Haad Chao Lao, Khlong Khut, Tha Mai, Chanthaburi

Haad Chao Lao is a beach located a few kilometers west of Chanthaburi. The beach is quite wide at low tide, and in some places very narrow at high tide.
There are resorts along the beach, compared to our <_reis/Thailand 2020/Thailand 2020-e.html'> previous visit in 2020 there seems to be more construction. The resorts are sometimes built almost on the beach, which is the cause of the narrow beach at high tide.
On the other side of the road past the resorts there are restaurants, as well as accommodation.
Fortunately, high-rise buildings do not exist here yet.

The visitors who come here are mainly Thai visitors, and they sometimes make quite a lot of noise. But at about ten o'clock in the evening it is quiet.
You will find the occasional Western visitor there, but there are not many.

It is quite quiet during the week, so it is not necessary to book a hotel. It is a lot busier on weekends and public holidays, it is only a good 200 km drive from Bangkok and then a weekend trip here is doable. Early reservations are necessary on weekends and public holidays.

Nearby are other beaches such as Haad Laem Sing, Haad Laem Sadet and Haad Kung Wiman.
